The Dean is supported by the leadership of two Associate Deans, who manage a team of administrators for each library, operations, SIS, and collections. In their capacity as the chief academic officer for all of Wayne State University's Libraries and the SIS the Dean is responsible for providing comprehensive leadership, advocacy, and stewardship of a dynamic research library system, archive, and ALA accredited school. Servings as a member of the Council of Deans, the Dean of University Libraries and SIS will provide the vision, leadership, and coordination across these various units to support the University's strategic plan and to further the importance of access in higher education to a diverse student population. In the context of a diverse, urban university with a prominent research agenda, the Dean will work closely with all academic and administrative units of Wayne State University to advance a bold vision for the University Libraries, archives, and the School of Information Sciences and to promote their positions as critical campus partners in the teaching, learning, and research enterprise. The Dean is a critical partner in, and facilitator of, student and faculty intellectual engagement and will demonstrate a commitment to collaboration, innovation, and service to help define, articulate, plan, and promote all areas of the Wayne State University Library System (WSULS). University Libraries are central to Wayne's research, teaching, and outreach missions.
